January 8th, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
This year’s recipient of the prestigious CCHR Humanitarian Award was local attorney Mrs. Carmen Miller for her work to educate citizens on their rights under the mental health law.

The Baker Act in Florida is a law which affects every resident.

Attorney Carmen Miller delivers this seminar to educate citizens on their legal rights and how they can protect their family when it comes to psychiatric involuntary commitment in Florida.

“Most people are not aware that one’s child can be taken right out of school and Baker Acted, without knowledge or consent from the parents,” said Mrs. Miller, “People need to know their rights so they can protect themselves and their loved ones.”

While the original stated intention of the Baker Act was to protect the rights of citizens sent for involuntary psychiatric examination, it has become a source of great abuse.

At this seminar you will learn more about the mental health law, how the Baker Act is being misused, and your rights.

Admission is complimentary. Please RSVP.

Complimentary refreshments will be served.
