SUMMARY:Veterans' Rights Seminar
DESCRIPTION:A seminar on mental health and veteran rights. \n\n\nThe Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is hosting a seminar on mental health and veteran rights on Sunday\, January 22nd from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM EST at their headquarters located at 109 North Fort Harrison Avenue in downtown Clearwater. \n  \nThe seminar is complimentary and refreshments will be served. \n  \n  \nDuring the first 3 years of World War 2 only ten soldiers per 100\,000 committed suicide a year while in 2021\, research revealed that “that 30\,177 active duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide – compared to the 7\,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years. That is\, military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations”. \n  \n  \n  \nWhat could account for this tremendous discrepancy? How could it be that more than four times more vets and soldiers have killed themselves\, than soldiers that were killed in action? Is there a hidden influence that could have contributed to this terrible reality? \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n– Get familiar with some of the issues veterans are facing today. \n– Find out to what degree over-using medication can affect our troops and the veterans’ community? \n-Learn about veterans’ rights. \n-Get informed about alternative solutions that exist for our veterans. \n  \n  \nSubmit your questions to info@cchrflorida.org \nOr call: (727) 442-8820 \n© 2022 CCHR Florida.
